Cell Division
Virchow stated that 'cells come from preexisting cells'.

Meiosis
Virchow stated that 'cells come from preexisting cells'.
Mitosis
- When an organism needs to heal, they will divide to produce more of their kind.
- During mitosis, a cell divides to produce two identical daughter cells.
- The phases of mitosis are [PMAT] prophase, metaphase, anaphase, & telophase.
- New somatic cells such as skin, brain, nerve, and hair cells are produced this way.
Meiosis
- Species diversity is possible because of meiosis.
- During meiosis, a germ cell divides to produce four genetically different daughter cells.
- The cells produced are gametes or sex cells.
- The phases of meiosis are [PMAT1&2] prophase, metaphase, anaphase, & telophase.
- Because this process takes place twice, the cells produced only have half the number of chromosomes as the germ cell.
